Working together to improve our town and support our community.

Stratford-upon-Avon benefits from the presence of the Stratford-upon-Avon Town Trust, which provides valuable financial support to community groups and projects within the town Our Grants | Stratford Town Trust

In recognition of this existing support and the Council’s responsibility to keep the burden on local council taxpayers  as low as possible, the Town Council operates a limited grants scheme, focusing its resources on initiatives where there is a clear benefit to the town and its residents.

The Town Council continues to provide a range of other support to the community.  This includes free use of the Town Hall for charitable coffee mornings, Monday to Thursday, as well as continued financial support for Stratford-upon-Avon Christmas Lights Limited and Stratford-upon-Avon in Bloom Limited. The Council also provides substantial funding to support 24/7 CCTV coverage across the town.

Applications for funding through the Town Council Initiatives are open to community groups, organisations and other eligible applicants. As the funding is provided from public money, all applications are assessed against the Council’s published criteria and considered openly and transparently by the Community, Wellbeing and Place Committee in public session, before being ratified by Full Council. Details of successful applications and the funding awarded will be published on the Council’s website.

The Council welcomes applications for initiatives that demonstrate a clear and tangible benefit to the local community, particularly where they encourage community involvement, partnership working and collaboration.

Application timetable

Applications should be submitted by 1 September to enable them to be considered as part of the Council’s annual budget-setting process. Applicants will be notified of the outcome in February, following approval of the Council’s budget in January.

Approved funding will be paid during the following financial year, from April to March.

Applications received after 1 September are welcome but will not be considered until the following year’s application process.
